Understanding your dog/s behaviour

When you know why your dog does, what he does, you will have a better understanding of how to change it, but, just like a baby, your dog cannot tell you in words, what is wrong, so, he tries to tell you with his behaviour.

A dog does not understand that we don’t always know/realise that there is a problem, their communication consists of smells/scents, body language and different ‘bark/howl’ noises. We might be able to tell by our dog/s bark, that he wants to be let out and we know some of their ‘body language’, but we have no way of understanding all of them and picking up on all the different smells/scents is impossible

When your dog/s behaviour changes, starting to bark at things, showing aggression, etc., it usually means that he has developed a ‘fear’ of something and because you have no idea about, what has happened, or didn’t realise the effect it could have on your dog, the fear escalated to a point where he ended up being fearful of all sorts. Try seeing it from a ‘human’ prospective, you have just moved into an old house and because you are scarred of spiders you call ‘pest control’, after fumigating, they assure you that there are no spiders, while relaxing in a room, you see 4 very big spiders running across the ceiling, you call pest control and they fumigate the house again, but it doesn’t matter how many times they guarantee you that they are all gone, you do not trust them or the situation and this is what happened to your dog/s. Through no fault on either part, (matters beyond our control) the trust is gone.

Understanding why your dog/s behaviour has changed, is the first step to regaining their trust.
