TRUST  OR  TRAIN YOUR DOG ???

Trust & Respect is about changing your dog/s behaviour the natural way, you will never need the 'Heel', 'Sit', 'Stay' or 'Recall' command as your dog/s will do all of these on his/her own accord, any kind of aggression and unwanted behaviour will stop.
Thank you for supporting me in trying to... STOP these so called 'dog trainers' who think that 'slip knot collars' and other 'so called training aids' are a good idea.

RULES

Your dog should be walking next or behind you, not in front

You should always be the one to enter or leave ahead of your dog

You should not feed your dog at the table

You should always be in a calm state of mind

Do not treat your dog as if he's your baby/child

bla bla bla.

Why, why shouldn't they, or, why shouldn't you treat your dog/s the way you want to?

Do you know someone who has given up smoking and is now chewing nicotin gum?  I know someone who gave up 3 years ago and is still chewing it.  You are replacing one problem with another, it might be healthier but now you are chewing yukki gum for years to come.  That is what you do when you use the 'conventional' training methods.  For instance, dog is pulling on the lead, conventional training will tell you to put the dog back in heel position, you might (if you're lucky) get your dog to walk beside you, but now you are constantly having to remind the dog to stay there.   Wouldn't you rather have a dog who walks beside or behind you because that is where the dog wants to be and not because you keep putting him there,  I know I do.

I've learnt the hard way that many of these 'rules & solutions' do not always work, they didn't tell me that I would end up spending the next few weeks, months or even years applying them and that the small fortune I spent, had been a waste of money.

'Conventional training' reminds me of my first ever driving lesson.  The instructor stopping the car and saying 'It's your turn',  I just thought 'Oh no', I knew that at the end of that road was a big roundabout, I wasn't anywhere near it, but I was already stressed just thinking about it.  What was it the instructor had said, check your mirrors, indicate, change gears, change lane, check for other cars, or was it indicate, then check mirrors, etc. talk about suffering a panic attack, big time.

Remembering the do's and dont's, while trying to control a dog who is so much stronger than you, dragging you, throwing a tantrum because he has seen another dog, cat or what ever it is that sets him off, is enough to get even the calmest person's bloodpressure to rise.  Honestly, how many of you would be able to stay calm in such a situation.  Not me, been there, tried it, got the t-shirt, drenched in sweat and ready to pull my hair out.  I had been trying so hard to get it all right and only achieved in making not just mine, but also my dogs lifes, miserable.  That's when I said to myself, enough is enough and got rid of all info on dog training. It was the best choice I've ever made.

All trainers, the ones I met, watched on TV or read about have certain methods in commen.  They all tell you that you should be  calm, assertive, sending the right energy when dealing with your dog/s. Shoulders back, head high, etc., that every one has to stick to the same rules, if you don't, you'll confuse the dog/s  and you have to put the work into it, training every day.  Good luck with that.  In the 'real' world, you will not always feel 'calm. assertive' when ever you're with your dog/s. You'll have days when you feel down, tired, angry, stressed, worn out or, as in my case, in pain, and, no matter how many times you tell  your family members, that it has to be done so and so, they still  do it 'their way'.

I would like my dogs to listen, no matter how I feel.   Pretending  that you are calm when you feel anything but,  doesn't work anyway, your dog/s  knows exactly how you feel, not because he can tell that your smile is fake, but because of your scent and body language, and,  I certainly don't want to spend weeks, months, or even years, having to apply these rules again and again.

Instead of training, we build trust and with trust comes respect.  When you have this, you have a dog who 'just' knows when and what he should be doing, who will look to you to show /lead the way.  There won't be anymore doubt if your dog/s will stay at your side. People always comment on how well 'trained' my dogs are, which makes me smile. When I tell them that I have never trained my dogs, they are astounded and the questions come flying: 'How do you get them to walk to heel', 'How do you get them to come back no matter what they are doing', 'How do they understand what you want' and many many more. When I'm addressing my dogs, I say things like 'keep walking', 'hold on for a sec', 'we're going this way' 'stay on this side'.and my dogs listen, it is not because they understand what I am saying but.know from the tone of my voice, what I would like them to do, just like I know what they want when they behave in a certain way.

This is what I mean, when  I say: If you have trust, you have respect, and all else will follow. They will look to you for guidance and protection, but, at the same time, will do the same for you, if need be.  That is what 'Pack mentality' is all about.  The 'Alpha' dog/person isn't there to bark orders but to make sure that their is peace and tranquilty in the pack.

The problem with 'conventional dog training' is that it will only 'mask' the problem. It's like you cutting your arm badly, the emergency doctor comes out and bandages the arm up, he stopped the bleeding. but you still have the bad cut that needs seeing to and that is what we do at Trust & Respect.  There is always a reason why your dog  behaves the way he does.

There are no rules, that you need to remember and you'll be able to treat your dog/s any which way you like, we will actually encourage you to show your dog/s as much affection as possible.

So, if you have had enough of trying to train your dog/s and not getting anywhere, then give me a call.

We look forward to hearing from you
